About
Milton is a small town in Santa Rosa County, and the home of NAS Whiting Field. Residents love the small-town vibe, affordable homes, and easy commutes to area installations. Milton is centrally located to both NAS Whiting Field and NAS Pensacola, making it a great choice for those who will be traveling to either or both installations. This quaint suburb is mostly considered a bedroom community (where people only go to sleep), and most spouses who seek employment find it in Pensacola. It’s known for being safe, hospitable, and prideful of its military residents!
This forested city is set back from the beaches of Pensacola by about 25 miles, but there is still plenty of water to be found. The Blackwater River, and several tributaries permeate the city and Milton is actually known as the “canoe capital of Florida.” There are ample opportunities for outdoor recreation like fishing, boating, scuba or snorkeling in the rivers, bays and the Gulf. Blackwater River State Forest is also nearby with all sorts of adventures waiting. Downtown Milton offers a little culture and old Southern history, with mom-and-pop shops aplenty.
Neighbors
Milton is home to a ton of military retirees and active duty families. The small town vibe, plus the predominance of military-affiliated neighbors helps with fostering a tight-knit community.
